Yummy Raw Vegan Bread Recipe

Raw Vegan Bread and it is Yummy! 

If you didn't see my post about the raw vegan bread that I made the first time, that's ok. I have made this "bread" a several times now and I came up with a variation that I love. If you wan to get the original recipe and post go to the link below. 


Raw Vegan Bread

Like I said I made a variation of this that I love! 

I already left out a couple ingredients from the original recipe the first time I made this.

But this last time I change it a bit more to my liking. 

I love this way best myself so I wanted to share it here for you.

Maybe you will like it best this way too. 

It looks the same but I think improved on the taste. 

The first time I made this I liked it pretty well and ate it! 

But I wanted to make it a bit sweeter and make it cleaner more hygienic. 

I left out the oil all together, as well as the onion this time. 

I also left out the tamari sauce because I don't like to use soy products. 

It is also less sodium and that is good for me too. 

So for this recipe it is basically the same as the original recipe but I added dates for sweetness. 

And left out all that other stuff. 

For a much cleaner product. 

I loved it this way! 

For this Raw Vegan Bread Recipe 

1 cup raw sunflower seeds soaked and drained.
2 medium carrots 
2 medium zucchini
1 cup yellow flax meal 
5 pitted dates
1/2 cup water

I used the brown flax meal because that is what I always have on hand. 
And it worked fine and tasted good too. 

For the dates I soaked them a little bit in the 1/2 cup of water before putting it all in the food processor. 
Place everything in the processor and blend to the consistency that you desire. Spread out in the thickness that you like on your dehydrator trays. I like this bread a little thick about a little less than half and inch. For detailed directions on making this in your dehydrator see original post. 

I am glad that I found this recipe and was able to modify it so that I love to eat it! 

Makes a great veggie meal in the form of a raw vegan veggie sandwich.

Healthy Vegan Diet

Is a vegan diet healthy? 

 This is the question that is on a lot of people's minds these days. I am going to try not making this a super long article and just get to the point. Like a lot of things in life the answer to this question depends on you, the individual. Like any other style of dietary systems out there, a vegan diet can be as good for you or as bad for you as you like. That part is up to you! Also there are many factors to consider when discussing whether or not someone's vegan diet is good for them or not. 

Disclaimer; this is not medical advice. I am not a doctor. I am only giving my option based on my own experience and knowledge. Do what you want with it! I really don't care if you want to eat animal products or not. I do care about offering you some information that you can use to make your own choices. 

Not all vegan diets are created equal! 

 A vegan diet is any style of diet which does not use animal derived foods. Vegans will also abstain from using animal derived goods as much as possible. Veganism in itself is NOT A DIET as much as it is a LIFE STYLE CHOICE, TO NOT HARMING ANIMALS in anyway. Not even for food. The vegan diet is just a natural result of this choice. This is why a vegan diet can be as healthy or as disease causing as you like. 

After all even Oreo Cookies are vegan!   

 There are lots of vegan junk foods on the market for animal rights people to choose from. These highly processed packaged foods are not good for us! And certainly not better then the meat and cheese based garbage that most people gorge themselves on a daily bases. 

 Like I said Oreos are vegan but if you're looking to heal from disease then items such as Oreos, wouldn't be a very wise option to snack on, just because it's vegan. From what I have seen and learned in my life veganism is more about saving animals from harm then it is about health. 

 So, a vegan diet centered on processed food is not better than a whole food diet that includes some meat, eggs and cheese. Let me add to that. NO DIET, VEGAN OR NOT, IS HEALTHY, IF IT INCLUDES PROCESSD CONVINENCE FOODS. 

 Vegan diets can be just as high fat, and sugar as a diet eating fast food garbage! We need to understand this before we continue in this post. Vegan does not necessarily mean healthy. It may only mean that a person does not participate in animal abuse. They may care very little for their own health and eat like shit. 

 Likewise most people who eat animal derived foods also eat like shit! I have been around long enough to know this. Whether you are vegan or not, it would be wise to take responsibility for your own health right now and just admit that you ate like shit most of your life. 

 Every day is a new day to start eating better than you ever have in your entire life!  

I don't think I have to tell you that plants, fruit, vegetables and greens are good for you. If you are reading on this blog you probably agree with that. We can also use our common sense to say that a diet too high in fat is also not the best choice. 

A healthy vegan diet that is rich in nutrient dense plant derived foods is going to be your best choice for a healthy well balanced vegan diet. Anyone who will disagree with that is really not worth my time. If that is you then you may as well stop reading now. You have already made up your mind against a diet without animal products. 

Plants are some of the most nutrient dense items that we can consume! These are anti cancer foods and the very thing we are designed to eat. Studies have already shown that a diet which limits animal products and includes rich plants is best for health.

We are talking a reduction in cardiovascular disease, cancer rates, and even the elimination of type 2 diabetes. There are many examples of this if you are open to see them. Check out Dr. Fred Bisci who is a 93 year old long time vegan, or Will Tuttle who went vegan in 1980. 

 Now that we have established what a healthy vegan diet is. Let's talk about the reasons why someone would fail while eating a healthy whole food vegan diet.

What about Ex.Vegans?

Why some people get unhealthy on a vegan diet depends on many factors; like eating enough plant based calories, stress associated with the diet, environment/quality of food, as well as any underlying health problems causing the malabsorption of nutrients if one is eating enough. 

 If you are following a vegan diet you need to make sure #1. that you are eating enough food. From my experience and what I see with those who claim to have gotten unhealthy on a vegan diet. Eating enough seems to be the biggest problem. 

 People don't seem to understand that you have to eat more food as in quantity, whole food vegan than you do with a heavy animal based meal. When it comes to eating a well balanced vegan diet you literally have to eat twice as much food as you normally did as a meat  and cheese eater. Even still, if a raw or mostly raw vegan diet is what you are doing. You need to eat three times as much food quantity as you would  for cooked vegan. 

Why? 

 Because cooked food and animal derived foods are more calorically dense than raw food. They are also more filling with less food and keeps you full a lot longer. You cannot go into a vegan or raw vegan diet thinking that you will get by with the same amount of food. You will find yourself hungry and craving lots of carbohydrates. Chances are you will grab the first piece of garbage right in from of you that is full of empty calories and sugar. 

 It actually takes a lot of practice to prepare vegan meals every day and make sure you are getting enough of the nutrients that you need to sustain yourself on this lifestyle. And if raw or mostly raw vegan is what you are doing it takes a lot more discipline and planning as well. And if you have a family to take care of like me, it is a lot more work to stick with it too. 

 I believe not eating enough is the #1 reason why people fail eating vegan or raw vegan. These people don't eat enough and lose too much weight too soon. They will also lose muscle as well due to not enough calories and nutrition. Muscle needs calories and when the fat is burned away the body goes right after the muscle. 

 When you don't eat enough, on any kind of diet plan, you will find yourself binging on anything that is around. Especially bread and sweets! This also will lead to becoming unhealthy trying to eat a vegan or raw vegan diet. And to be honest most people on social media claiming to be an ex-vegan because it made them sick, probably was binging on junk food due to not eating enough nutrient dense foods. 

 Reason #2 why people fail on a vegan diet!

 I think a vegan diet could make you unhealthy if you have an underlying health issue that prevents the digestion of many fruits and vegetables. In this case people need to steam and bake their veggies. As well as Watch the salt and spices they are using. These people may need to take some probiotics and other enzymes to get things working better. If you can't digest and absorb nutrients it won't matter if your diet is plant vegan or not. If going vegan and staying vegan is what you want to do I suggest seeing a plant based doctor who can help create a healthy vegan plan right for you. 

 Even certain nutrients like B12 which people say you can only get eating meat is actually synthesized in your gut. This requires proper digestion. Most people have a broken digestive system for lack of a better term. And actually B12 is the meat comes from their own gut too eating grass latent with B12 synthesizing bacteria. So how did the cow get B12? They eat plants and dirt . Their gut does the rest. 

 Another reason why meat has B12 in it is supplementation. Farm animals. Farmed animals are given synthetic B12 shots along with minerals, and antibiotics. So most of the B12 found in meat is actually put their by man anyway. The person who wants to go vegan and stay that way can always supplement the nutrients that they need. You should get blood work done so you can rule out of identify any deficiencies before changing your diet or supplementing a vegan diet. 

#3 reason why people may get sicker on a vegan diet is, STRESS!

 If you are going vegan and don't want to, or don't have the support at home this will cause you extra stress. Stress that wasn't there before you began a vegan journey. And if a health scare is the reason why you are going vegan this too is extremely stressful. I don't think I have to tell you that stress is a killer! 

 If you are consistently stressed out about your diet, no matter how healthy the diet may be, it's not going to help you much. Sure you may lose weight but as far as getting healthier stress alone is enough to create disease. I got the health problems that I have from many years of eating the standard American diet. But, I can tell you that stress was also a huge factor. Stress as well as diet is the top reasons why people develop thyroid issues like I have. Family history may also play a role but I think it's more like family learned behavior than genetics. 

 I recommend before you make any drastic changes to your diet like going vegan that you should take the steps to eliminate the biggest stressors in your life. Any major lifestyle change should be done during a time when you are thinking clearly and can focus on the necessary steps for success. If your illness is your biggest stressor than take the time to eliminate the problematic foods one at a time. Keep a food journal and take it one step at a time. 

Any good necessary change in life shouldn't be stressful. You should want to do it and embrace every step that needs to be taken. If you believe that giving up animal products is good for you to do why stress over it? 

It is also a good idea not to tell anyone about your choice to abstain from animal products. Family can make things difficult for you, especially when you go vegan. Consult your doctor and make the changes quietly. Eliminate stress and problematic foods first. Then just enjoy the process and healthy food.

In conclusion  

 These are the three biggest problems I see with eating a vegan or raw vegan diet. These are really not a problem with the diet itself but implementation of the diet. You need to do your own research and come up with your own answers as well. But these problems are avoidable problems that people often have with a healthy diet change. I offered some suggestions here. 

To recap my points in this article;

Eating a junk food diet just because it's vegan, is not healthier than eating a whole food diet that includes meat. It is better for the animals in the sense that were are not killing them, but not healthier for your body. 

Any diet which includes processed convenience food is NOT HEALTHY!

A whole food plant based diet with enough calories to sustain a healthy body is necessary if you want to succeed eating a healthy vegan diet. 

Supplementation is a good idea when it's needed to meet your nutritional needs. This part is up to you and a good plant based doctor to decide. Do your research to find out what is best for you.

Yes a vegan diet is healthy in my opinion when it's done properly of course :) 

 Those who follow a vegan diet are more likely than meat and dairy eaters to eat lots of disease preventing fruits and vegetables. When you don't eat meat, eggs and cheese you then have to focus on filling up those calories on nutritious fruits and veggies instead. 

 In my opinion most people who include meat, eggs and cheese in their diet do not eat enough fruit, veggies and greens. This, I believe is part of why statistically cancer, diabetes and heart disease are so prevalent. And 

 I know, I never ate more fruits and veggies than I have in the last few years going vegan than in my whole life! I focus on nutrition now instead of eating filling meat  egg and cheese based meals. 

I personally try to stay mostly raw vegan but I allow some oats and quinoa sometimes too. I eat mostly all of my calories in fruit, veggies and greens. The rest is made up of nuts, seeds, avocado and occasionally oats or quinoa. 

It has taken me a bit of practice but this year 2022 I have gotten much better with it. I honestly eat more food now on a healthy vegan diet than I ever have in my life! I also eat more notoriously then I ever have. I even lost my weight and have kept it off for years now. 

I want to eat a vegan diet because I think it is the healthiest for me right now. I am trying to heal my body from a serious illness and I believe it is fruit and plants that is going to help me with that. I know I need the healing nutrition and energy from plants.

And it has been a long time coming. I first wanted to eat a healthy vegan diet since I was a young adult. I also want to eat a diet that is best for our planet and the animals who live here too. A vegan diet is the logical choice to accomplish that. 

I hope this answers the question Is a vegan diet healthy for you. Like I said use your own research and maybe the advice of your doctor to determine what is healthiest for you. 

A good book to help you get started is always good too.

Natural Health Mucusless Diet Healing

   In this post I want to put it all together for you. Sometimes I feel like this blog isn't focused and or I am not focused. Let me explain. On this blog you will see information from Dr. Robert Morse, Loren Lockman, Dr. Herbert Shelton, Arnold Ehret, and likewise Prof. Spira. All of these men teach what is seemingly a different approach to a natural diet. So sometimes I listen to one, then the other, and the other. And find myself feeling unfocused. But the more I learn and implement the more I see the similarities and choose to focus on that. 

So what I want to do here is put it all tougher for you and outline the basics of what all these men teach. That way you and myself can have a bit of a guide through it all. I will also include a list of mucus free foods both cooked and uncooked. I am all about simplicity so I am going to keep it as simple as possible. I will provide links to my other posts about these other teachers so that I can keep this post as short as possible. 

Arnold Ehret and Prof. Spira

I have learned a lot from Arnold Ehret's book The Mucusless Diet Healing System first published in 1920. But also from a man of our own century, Prof. Spira who is the leading authority on Ehret's system. I highly recommend his videos and website. 

What I love about The Mucusless Diet Healing System is the simplicity of it. And the variety of mucus free foods there is to choose from. You are not bound to just raw fruit. And you can eat from a wide range of cooked fruits, as well as plants. By fruits I mean all sweet, sour and savory fruits. A fruit is simple a plant based food that has seeds surrounded by the flesh, or fruit. I will go over these in the Mucusfree food list. 

Arnold Ehret also has a pretty good transition diet. I think that is pretty important. If you're not used to eating a whole food, grain free, mucus free, raw or mostly raw vegan diet than a transition program is a very important step. A good transition program can save you years of cheat eating, or what I call "I don't give a fuck" moments or the "I have been doing good" rewarding your self with disease forming food moments. 

A mucus free diet can consist of cooked and raw seasonal foods. The system teaches that there is a good way and a bad way of cooking foods. Fasting is also highly recommended in times when you need to be resting and not eating. Fasting can be an excellent tool in the recovery of illness. Ehret himself was cured of a so called incurable disease. It was fasting and a fruit based mucus free diet that helped him for it and was the cause of developing his system. 

Ehret's system is really about the science and art of health. No fads just simplicity, common sense and getting out of the bodies way. Transitioning to a healthy plant based mucus free diet along with mastery over the art of fasting, over time. 

Arnold Ehret was really one of the most influential people of the natural health movement. Like Morse and Shelton they were in a lot of way ahead of their time but right on time. So all their teachings really goes hand in hand with Ehrets work. More on Arnold Ehret and The Mucusless Diet Healing System! 

Need I not forget to again mention the invaluable source of Mucusless Diet Healing System knowledge, that we get from Prof. Spira. Like I said he is the leading authority of today on Ehret's work so I recommend that you learn from him too. Especially if you really want to get into The Mucusless Diet Healing System.

Dr. Herbert Shelton

Moving on to the next century from Arnold Ehret is Dr. Herbert Shelton. After Ehret, Dr. Herbert Shelton was one of the best natural health authorities of the 20th century. He operated many fasting clinics in which he helped thousands of people get well through what he called Natural Hygiene. We could say he is the Father of the Natural Hygiene movement. Like The Mucusless Diet Healing System, Natural Hygiene is the science of health. 

The principles of Natural Hygiene are very similar to what Ehret taught. Certainly Shelton was a student of Ehret's work. It's about letting the body do it's thing. The one thing that it's always trying to do, HEAL ITSELF, if only we didn't get in the way. The body is designed to heal, designed for life! And symptoms of disease are only the bodies way of communicating the dis-ease in the body. 

Both of these men promoted fasting and not just a quick fast but extended water fasts when needed along with lots rest. They also both promoted a natural whole food plant based, mucus free diet. Both Shelton and Ehret taught about the art of health and fasting. Loren Lockman follows in both these men's foot steps and operates a successful fasting center in Costa Rica called, Tanglewood. If you are looking for a place like this to go away and heal, this is a place you should look into. 

Other practices of Natural Hygiene include eating a raw or mostly raw, whole foods plant based diet, sun bathing, drinking pure water, pure air, staying calm and get plenty of rest. Life, God or Nature whatever you please has already provided everything we need to live a healthy well adjusted lives with no disease. It's human beings choosing to live outside of that which creates the dis-order that we experience and call disease. 



Dr. Robert Morse

Like Prof. Spira Robert Morse is a man from our own century and full of natural health knowledge. I am certain that he too is a student of Shelton and Ehret's work. What Morse teaches is the same basic principles of health as what all of these men teach. And that is eating a clean mucus free diet, along with fasting when the need be. Robert Morse is a big promoter of the fruit diet to help the body heal. He understands that fasting is not a good long term plan but a fruit diet for the purpose of healing can definitely be. 

Why fruit? Dr. Morse teaches us to eat a fruit diet. More specifically fruits, berries and melons! In order to help the body heal from the inside out. This is because fruit is the easiest to digest, energetic, pure water rich, and nutritious. The perfect food! Morse teaches that a fruit diet for a time will help the body heal by speeding up the detoxification process and allow the body to cleanse effectively. 

A lot like what Loren Lockman teaches us to do as well. We eat a fruit diet or a fruit based diet along with greens to give the body everything it needs and nothing that it does not! Fasting is used in the short term to give the body a rest and a jump start into a clean fruit based diet. 

Loren Lockman has had people at his Tanglewood retreat fast as much as 50 days! But he has stated that the typical individual will fast for about 20 days. Dr. Morse knows that most people can't go to a retreat to fast in the safety of an expert so a fruit diet is the safest and most logical step to take for most people. This is exactly what I recommend too.

Fasting certainly should be included in your day, every day but most of us can't afford or take the time to do it for 20 days. I do recommend however that you start small with one day, every week and build up to more. In the mean time eat a clean plant based diet. If you have cancer you may want to go more over to the vegetable side of things. There is some evidence that sugar, even contained in fruit may make it more difficult to heal from cancer. But Dr. Robert Morse will teach us differently. 

Morse is a big promoter in a fruit diet to heal from cancer and claims to have seen it in many of his patients. Certainly both scenarios can be possible depending on the situation. I will leave that up to the individual and their own judgment. See Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida. 

Loren Lockman

Like I said before Loren Lockman has a very successful fasting retreat in Costa Rica called Tanglewood. People go there to do long fasts in order to heal from a chronic disease. The principles are simple and a lot like what all of the other men can teach us. We learn from Loren how to get out of the bodies way through fasting. Removing stress, and get rest in the pristine environments of Costa Rica. 

Like Natural Hygiene fresh air, sunshine, clean water, and fresh raw food like fruit and greens is all the body needs to heal. I will also add a positive mental out look on life. Loren teaches us that nothing outside the body can heal us. Our body will heal itself if given the proper environment. This principle is a common theme in the teaches of Loren Lockman as well as, Shelton, Morse, Ehret and Spira alike! 

Also fruit is humans perfect and most natural food! The human diet is supplemented with the baby leaves of soft tender greens. Which are easy to digest and offer us the nutrition our body needs to heal itself. Loren has taught me that health is simple daily fasting, fruit diet along with simple salads is the perfect diet scenario for humans. 

I know when I stick to this myself I feel my best. It is what keeps me going! According to Loren a simple salad is spinach, lettuce, tomato, avocado and lemon juice. If you have not had a salad like this you are missing out on the perfect simplicity. I love my salads like this! 

You can learn more from Loren Lockman on his YouTube channel. I love the simplicity of what he teaches and this common sense approach to health. Anyone who can take the time and money to go fast with him in Costa Rica is indeed blessed. He also does online fasting consultations too. 

Bringing it all together! 

The message that all of these men bring is that of simplicity, common sense, basic scientific principles about how the body works, and good old fashion implementation. Don't knock it till you try it! Certainly these men would not agree with each other on every little thing. This article is not to point out the differences but the similarities. 

The message is clear and can be customized to fit your own lifestyle and diet goals. The message is; eat a clean mucus free diet, of fruit, greens, and vegetables. Some seeds and some nuts may be added in moderation and eaten with your greens/veggies. Organic is always best if you can get it. I love homegrown best myself when it is available. 

It is really the diet of man, human kind before sin and death entered into the world, Genesis 1:29. The original plant diet, that is not only cleansing but nutritious too! I am still working on a 24 hour fast once per week. For now I am working on perfecting the art of daily fasting about 15-20 hours daily. I heard Prof. Spira say the other day that following The Mucusless Diet Healing System and fasting is really an art. I like that and it is so true. Like art we are all unique individuals, in a situation some what unique to us. 

We need to find what speaks to us and fit that into our lifestyle. Always learning to techniques and improving along the way. This is why I love to learn and implement what makes sense to me in my life without compromising my health. I certainly want to fit into the standards that I have learned from these men. I believe they are right on the money with their message and I have experienced the truth in it but putting it to practice in my life. 

I hope this post has helped you make sense out of what these men can teach us. If you don't know who these people are I suggest you look them up and see what it is you can learn from them. Apply this message to your life and see what can happen.
